Night Speaks
by Marilyn Pellecchia

nightspeaks_web.jpg

Night speaks in frog song and cricket legs
and sweet sighs on windowsills.
In shiny eyes darting
from dark wings dancing.

Night speaks in distant howls
and answering cries.
In sweet hay swaying
in the cool moon.

Night speaks in silent trees
cradling nests asleep.
In soft scurries
under stilled brambles.

Night speaks in sweet desire
and secret places.
In whispered breath
and honeyed ache.

I will be your frog song
and your dark wings.
I will come to you
when night speaks.

From Karen: This brings great memories of my peaceful days growing up in my country home.  Sweet summer nights!!  Thanks for the break :)

From Marjorie: "I will be your frog song/and your dark wings," — Beautiful! the urgency of nature, the nature of desire.
